The Deadline Film

In 2006 Independent film maker Phil Stebbing set off with environmental group Greenpeace to track down pirate fishing vessels off the West Coast of Africa.

Using helicopters and other surveillance techniques he filmed how pirates are devastating Guinea’s rich fishing grounds using unlicensed vessels and then smuggling their catch back to Europe in official European Union boxes.

After a dramatic High Seas chase and spectacular entry into the Spanish port of Las Palmas Greenpeace conclusively proved how this international scam brings stolen fish from the world’s poorest countries right to consumer’s dinner plates without them even knowing.

The 52 minute Deadline film with original music by Banco De Gaia, Cosma, Matt Coldrick and Matt Hillier, Entheogenic and James Perera, is available for purchase.
